Week 1 assignments

I've been working my way through the assignments for week 1.

Assignment 1: I didn't do so well on the book cover recognition exercise.  I got exactly half of the adult and children's book covers.

Assignment 2: I did better on the genres than I expected to do. I got most of them but was tripped up a bit in the espionage and crime areas.

Assignment 3: I enjoyed the Golden Rules for readers advisory service.  There was lots of good advice in it.  It was interesting to see the last piont that stated that the field was still young.  I have known many people who were brilliant at this decades ago.  They viewed their ability and knowledge as one facet of being a skilled librarian.  

Assignment 4: For the recommended links, I chose:
Salon - Books because I rarely check the salon.com website and people refer to it regularly.
Tor - Fiction Affliction since I rarely read science fiction or fantasy. I picked this one because I also rarely use sites that gather and organize content in this way.  It should be an interesting experience.

Assignment 5: Just for fun
I had a good time with this.  It was a good and entertaining diversion to finish this set of assignments.
